Study in Landscaping
When you study in Landscaping trade courses at the TEC, the learning and doing takes place in the field, in the purpose designed Building Site, in modern classrooms with interactive technology, on community or Chisholm projects and on work experience placements.
Trades Building Site
One aspect of Landscaping training is the Building Site at Berwick TEC. This work space simulates the operations of a live building site where several trades can work around each other, or together on common projects, at the same time. Site access and induction, site operation and OH&S regulations all apply as they would on a real building site.
While working in their specialist fields, students interact and get exposed to what everyone else is doing, to other skills in action ... so you get your eyes opened to how the broader industry works, getting things done in teams.
VCAL COURSES
VCAL Landscaping
Complete a full landscaping pre-apprenticeship as part of a VCAL program. Completion of all required units will reduce the educational component of an apprenticeship.
The training is mainly project based and gives industry relevant hands-on experience as an introduction to the diverse career opportunities in Landscaping and Horticulture in general.
Study areas include: operate machinery & equipment, construct brick/block structures and features, use hand and power tools, levelling, lay paving, and recognise and plant trees and shrubs.
This is a great option for those who enjoy the outdoors, planning landscaping projects and then putting the plan into reality.
VCAL Fast Track (Senior)
This course provides the opportunity for students who have completed Year 11 to fast track Year 12 VCAL over one semester (six months).
Students can then move directly to their preferred course option.
Students will be required to have study credits from Year 11 that contribute to the Year 12 course to allow the fast track to occur. Vocational studies from a previous school are the most common credits that contribute to year 12 studies.
Full course outline available soon; contact the TEC for more information.
If you are interested in any of these courses apply now to the TEC or attend an information session or simply call us to talk through your choices
